With a dominant 45:10 swim, 4:42:43 bike, and 2:52:56 marathon, Kestrel’s Andy Potts won Ironman Lake Placid Sunday, tallying his 3rd Ironman title of his career, his 4th victory of the 2012 season, and a mind-blowing 30-minute plus victory margin. His winning time of 8:25:07 was just 2 minutes shy of the course record, and he set a new record in the 2.4-mile swim by 18 seconds.
Potts – who earned his 5th Escape from Alcatraz, 3rd Ironman 70.3 California, and 1st Ironman 70.3 St. Croix titles earlier this year – was particularly dominant on the bike, showing just how capable his Kestrel 4000 is of crushing the competition on the hilly, 3-loop course. Potts’ outrageously commanding victory brings the 2012 Kestrel 4000 Win Total to 11. Wow.
