Henderson & Tanimoto Crush “Pedal Till Ya Puke”

Cycle Station congratulates their Racing Team Athletes, Penn Henderson and Rani Tanimoto for their overall wins at the Kaloko Hill Climb 6.5 Mile Road Race held on Sunday, August 5th.

In it’s 22nd year running, this prestigious event known as the “Pedal Till Ya Puke” Race, culminated at the bottom of Kaloko Drive for a grueling, 6.5 mile quad busting climb to the top, with elevation gained of nearly 3000 feet, and several sections including 17 – 20% incline grades. Adding to the difficulty of the course was an 18 year standing course record of 40 minutes flat (40:00) that became Henderson’s competition on race day. After the pedaling, pushing and quad busting was done and over with, Henderson hammered the course to victory crossing the finish line at 38 minutes and 8 seconds (38:08), crushing the 18 year old course record by nearly 2 minutes!

Tanimoto, in her debut on a road bike for this event, propelled to the finish line to claim first for the women’s division, at 50 minutes 21 seconds (50:21). Her time was the third fastest among females in it’s 22 year long race history. Tanimoto is also a seven time women’s run champion for the running portion of this event known as the “Run to Ya Ralph.” Congratulations to Penn and Rani!
