Have we gotten a sneak peak at the all new SCOTT Plasma 5 triathlon bike this week?
Here at Cycle Station WE LOVE SCOTT BIKES! We’ve known there would be a release of a SCOTT Plasma 5 for the 2015 model year, but until this week haven’t known any of the details on the new triathlon ride.
When photos of Sebastian Kienle’s SCOTT Plasma bike at the DM Challenge Kraichgau in Mingolsheim, Germany, we knew right away we were looking at the new Plasma 5!!!
At first glance, the new SCOTT Plasma 5 looks a lot like the Plasma 3. On a careful look, the new Plasma 5 has a host of changes:
The first we see, is the front fairing, which also seconds as an integrated drink system. Super clean and very smart for aerodynamics. Mounting bottles down on the frame pretty much destroys your aero. We also see an all new stem system, a very cleanly integrated bento box, and a new integrated front brake. And where are the cables? The new Plasma 5 is a smooth as a baby’s butt!
Next is the new rear brake system. Scott opted to go for the integrated Shimano Dura Ace brake on the new Plasma 5. The old Plasma 3 used a standard Shimano brake above the chainstays. The new bike also appears to have a super aero fairing to further smooth the flow of air. The design must not be completed, because I doubt the 2015 model bikes will hit the showroom floor with 100mph tape on them.
We look forward to seeing the new 2015 SCOTT Plasma 5 in the flesh. Cycle Station is usually the first dealer to receive 2015 models, since they are on display for the IRONMAN World Championships in October. If you’re on Kona for IRONMAN, stop by the shop. We’ll be sure to post pictures when we put together the new custom painted SCOTT Plasma 5s for Luke McKenzie and Sebastien Kienle. Make sure to “Like” and check out some photos from last year on our Facebook page!
